A tribute
This is sort of a meloncholy post. The picture above is of a fishing lure and a simple red pole. But it has an indescribable amount of meaning. This is my Mom's fishing pole. Kathryn still refers to it as "Memaw's pole" and she will almost exclusively fish with it. And it still catches the most fish of all the lures and poles at the lake.
It doesn't seem possible that it has been eight years since my Mom has passed away. Time has tried to consume the emotion of it all. Kathryn was only 10, Philip 12, Ross and Lauren 14 and Liz 16. She never got to experience what amazing people they all have become, yet she was so much a part of their becoming. The pole and lure are testimony to that. They (most) all love to fish like she did and I often see other things from her personality and life in their lives as well. She would always say, "You do what you have got to do." And they do. I took this picture in August when we were all down at the lake for a visit and was thinking of her then, much as I am today. She was pretty amazing, and where she is now, she already knows how all that we are living through comes out in the end.
