His Mercies New Each Day....

Monday night ended well, thank you for the prayers. Lisa and I grabbed a quick meal out and came back around 9 pm. We past the time with more family stories; yes, about some of you, good ones anyway, until Mom’s pain was under control and she was very tired. We left her about 10 pm in the hands of Tina, an older, kind nurse from England. I came back this Tuesday am to catch the doctor at 5 am and did ( Mrs R (llr) would be proud of my timeliness, she taught me well.). Tina said she had a good night, sleeping and using her ‘feel good’ button. She received more antibiotics this morning, a shot to the stomach this time and Tylenol. The doctor said her hemoglobin continues to be low, about 8 and should be 12, which accounts for her feeling so tired. This is due to blood loss in surgery and oozing from the wound. He ordered two units of blood to be given today before her beginning some physical therapy. She will get out of bed today and attempt to stand up! With help of course. He said she would need the ‘feel good’ button today! I asked about the type of replacement knee she received. Doctor said it was a model, Foundation, made by En Core, injected plastic so it could be cemented in vs. screwed, with cobalt lined surfaces, sounds sturdy and robotic. He also indicated her stay at the rehab center could be only about two weeks with the test being that she could stand, walk and dress herself. Lisa is coming in a little later this morning with nutritional reinforcement, Panera bagels and coffee! Now who doesn’t like a Panera bagel?? Please pray that the hemoglobin count goes up and that she can get up today. Oh, and that Lisa doesn’t forget the hazel nut cream cheese spread…
Picture of the day...oatmeal and prunes for breakfast......yum....who doesn't like prunes?....

This is Cass. I feel your pain. No really, my ankle feels great but my knee is killing me. Seriously, we love you Viva and are thinking about you constantly. Good luck with the pain medication. I hate morphine and vicodin both. Lisa can explain. Take care.
