No Good Leg to Stand On...VIVA's surgery

No good leg to stand on...Viva’s surgery was off and running at 7am…after a very short night… up at 4am …the check into emergency was flawless…surgery was complete by 9am…no blood needed…doctor indicated bone was soft but was able to use a calcium cement?...he said new knee has good range…what did they do with the old one? …we are in her room now…she is alert and talking…greatest challenge is pain control…trying to sip on fluids, ice tea …feeling to her leg is coming back...everything seems to be normal…will probably be in hospital till Friday…then onto the rehab center…doctor indicated it would be best for her to move on as soon as possible from the center to reduce the chance of infection…patient indicates ‘it hurts.’….support crew is now feeling the 4am rise time….

You all look pretty good after such an early rise . . .and an operation!! Thanks for the update. Keep pressing that little "feel good" medicine button!

Dave and I are taking turns watching the clock for the 10 minute pain med intervals. We are so thankful that all has gone smoothly.

Pictures already! Can't believe it's not the back of your head! Great to know all is well and you're in such good hands. When do you get your first Krispy Kreme donut? Then I'll know you are OK.
Love you all.

All clear liquids today but the menu for tomorrow is Oatmeal, Turkey Sandwich and Pot Roast with vegetables and Apple Pie. Maybe we will sneak a Krispy Kreme in to liven things up a bit.

Thanks Dave for the picture and update. Patient looks to be doing very well. And knee appears to be bent already! Maybe we'll be up and around tomorrow morning.

Bob and family.
